Here's a copy of this week's update email from Raine:
Hello fellow theatre people!
We had a great second meeting for the school play this past Tuesday. Nick and I are so excited about the group. You are all extremely talented!
We included a couple of new members and now have a group of 21 students ranging from 2nd to 9th grades! We also have two members who will be doing make-up for the performance, which is great.
Nick and I had fun leading everyone in an improv exercise that broke into smaller groups and challenged everyone to work together and play off each other. Great job!
I brought copies of the script The Tiger, the Brahman, the Jackal and the Stone in the Road which I adapted from our Classics for Young Readers textbooks, incorporating some awesome ideas from Mrs. Hansen-Sturm. We didn't have time to finish a read-through, but it was great to hear the first half read by the group.
This Tuesday we will have a complete read-through, and then Nick and I will finalize the cast so that true rehearsals will start the following week. We have not finalized a performance date, but we are thinking it might be the very last Community Day of the year.
Be sure to check out the website for our group: CAVA Burbank CD Drama Club . You can easily reach us there through email links as well as a message board. We also uploaded some fun pictures from the last meeting.
Looking forward to our next meeting!
Sincerely,
Raine Allee
